Sponsorship and Donations
The Chicago ACS supports a variety of programs, but we need help from individuals and companies to make them happen. Here are the different ways you can help.
Individual Donation (flexible amount)
Support Chicago ACS activities with a donation! If you wish to support particular activities, you may add a note in the form or send a message to us at [email protected].
Here are some of the ways we use your contributions:
- Outreach to families at museums, libraries, and our annual Chemistry Day event. A $50 donation can provide materials for a meaningful hands-on chemistry experience for over 200 children.
- Career help for our younger and unemployed chemists. Your contribution of $20 will help a student or unemployed chemist attend a meeting, network with colleagues, and get the help they need.
- Summer chemistry jobs for economically disadvantaged high school students via ACS’ well-established Project SEED. 100% of Project SEED donations help pay Chicago-area students to work in local research laboratories in this highly effective program.
- Support for Minority Chemists, Women Chemists, Senior Chemists, and Younger Chemists. Our dedicated committees provide programs that help ensure everyone is enabled to participate in the chemistry community. (Our Women Chemists Committee was named the best in the ACS with a 2016 ChemLuminary Award: http://tinyurl.com/zvb72d9)
- Outreach to Government Agencies. Our Public Affairs Committee Won the ACS President’s Award for Local Section Government Affairs for educating legislators and working for environmental justice in Chicago (http://tinyurl.com/zvb72d9).

Company Sponsorship (flexible amount)
Company Sponsorship may be directed toward a specific program or general Chicago ACS activities. The company receives public recognition including:
- Display of the company logo in the Sponsors area on the front page of the Chicago ACS website
- Premium Sponsors: $2000 Min for one year of display
- Sponsors $500 Min for three months of display
- Entrepreneurial Sponsors (For small startup companies only): $250 for three months of display; $1000 for one year
- Recognition at our monthly meetings
- Premium Sponsors ($2000 Min): Public verbal thanks at all monthly meetings for one year, including the prestigious Gibbs Medal award ceremony, company logo displayed in meeting program and other meeting materials (such as table placards), display of company logo on all meeting invitations (4000+ member audience)
- Sponsors ($500 Min): Public verbal thanks at one specified monthly meeting, company logo displayed in its event program and other event materials (such as table placards), display of company logo on its meeting invitations (4000+ member audience)
- Entrepreneurial Sponsors (For small startup companies only): $250 for same benefits as regular Sponsors; $1000 for same benefits as Premium Sponsors
- Letter certifying that the tax-deductible contribution has been made to our 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Donation to Project SEED (flexible amount)
This donation will go toward our Project SEED program, which employs economically disadvantaged Chicagoland high school students in summer jobs in chemistry laboratories. Project SEED is a program of the National ACS, but the Chicago ACS administers it at the local level. Aside from a small processing fee (~$1-2), all of your donation goes directly to the salary of Project SEED students.

Support for High School Scholarships
This donation will help fund our high school scholarship programs. (Click here for details) If you wish, you may specify in a comment how you would like to distribute your contribution among our scholarship funds:
- General Scholarships
- The Marie Ann Lishka Memorial Scholarship (for the top-scoring female student)
- The Marshall S. Smoler Award (for the top-scoring student from Chicago Public Schools)
- The Bernard E. Schaar Award (from the Chicago Chemists' Club, for the top-scoring student from the city of Chicago)
Contributions without comment will help fund the General Scholarships.

Sponsor a Teacher's Membership in AACT & Affiliate Membership in Chicago ACS
Help a Chemistry teacher connect with colleagues by sponsoring their membership in the American Association for Chemistry Teachers AND Affiliate Membership in the Chicago Section ACS. Make a tax-deductible donation to the Chicago Section ACS for $65 (per teacher), and we will arrange for both of their memberships.
