2018 Activities
The Committee on Minority Affairs sponsored a table exhibit at Chemistry Day 2018. Materials displayed included information about CMA at both the local and national levels, the mission, and a group photo of the national committee members. Since the date of the event was just two days prior to the annual recognition of Mole day, several items to referencing Mole Day were also displayed. A part of a recruiting effort to increase active membership of the local committee, sign-up forms were provided. Teacher Developmen units offered.
MICROBIOGRAPHIES
To celebrate the contributions of minority chemists with ties to Chicago, we identify some our favorites and write "microbiographies" about them. We include links to additional resources to learn more about them. Please feel free to use our biographies as a starting point for school reports!
Our effort started with the 2018 Black History Month (February), and we plan on expanding our program to other minority groups soon.
