    Dr. Henry Cecil McBay

BANG!! Dr. Henry Cecil McBay (1914-1995), 1945 PhD graduate of The University of Chicago, specialized in the chemistry of explosive materials derived from hydrogen peroxide. His work was deemed sufficiently important that he did not have to serve in the military in WWII. In both 1944 and '45, he received the Elizabeth Norton prize for excellence in chemical research. McBay became a Chemistry Prof. at Morehouse College, and in 1956 became Department Chair. In 1982, he became the prestigious Fuller E. Callaway Professor of Chemistry at Atlanta University. All told, he taught for 41 years in the Atlanta University system.
