Born in 1940 Chicago, biochemist Dr. John Watson earned his BS from Illinois Institute of Technology and his PhD from University of Illinois at Chicago (NAVY PIER CAMPUS). At the U. of California San Francisco (UCSF), he became a Biochemistry Professor specializing in regulation of metabolic pathways, particularly involving cholesterol and isopentenoid biosynthesis. He received the1994 Lifetime Mentor Award from the AAAS - The American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the 1985 Outstanding Teacher Award from the NOBCChE.
