Chicago ACS member Dr. LeRoy Jones II, an Assoc. Professor and the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Chicago State University, has a remarkable range of research interests: self-healing bone cement, lightweight fuel cells, mechanistic studies of organometallic catalysts, and other applications of organometallic chemistry. He is also Director of STEM Initiatives and is Project Director of the National Science Foundation (NSF) Illinois Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation Program. #blackhistorymonth #chemistry
Jones earned his Chemistry BS at Bradley University (with a minor in Religious Studies), his PhD at University of South Carolina- Columbia, and did a postdoc in organometallic chemistry at the California Institute of Technology - Caltech. He's also worked at BP in Naperville, and served in the U.S. Army Reserve. We're thrilled to count him as a member!!
