    Workshop for Women

    Negotiating Salaries & Benefits

    Cost: $15 (advanced registration on or $20 at the door)

    $tart $mart is a three-hour workshop that provides women with the knowledge and skills for negotiating salaries and benefits in order to receive fair and realistic compensation as they approach the job market.  This workshop is an American Association of University Women program sponsored by the Chicago Section of the American Chemical Society’s Women Chemists, Younger Chemists and the Employment Committees. The workshop includes a light breakfast, lunch, panel of experts, and resume review by ACS Career Consultants. Open to all women in science!

    Julie Ellefson is a professor and co-chair of the Department of Chemistry at Harper College
    where she has worked for 29 years. She has a MS in chemistry and an M.Ed. Her areas of interest
    are learning in the laboratory, assessment and community outreach.

    Vivian Sullivan is the Laboratory Directed Research and Development Program Manager at
    Argonne National Laboratory. After joining Argonne in 2001, she became a radiochemist and
    starting in 2004 served as the Analytical Chemistry Laboratory manager for ten years. She
    received her Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

    Linda McGill Boasmond is owner and president of Chicago-based Cedar Concepts
    Corporation (CCC). CCC processes raw materials for use in a wide variety of personal-care,
    household, industrial, and agricultural products marketed under many brand names familiar to
    both consumers and businesses.

    Lunch choices are: Panera Turkey Sandwich Box Lunch (Oven roasted turkey raised without antibiotics, lettuce, vine-ripened tomatoes, red onions, Basil Pesto, pure mayo, spicy mustard, salt and pepper on Asiago Cheese Focaccia. Served with potato chips, pickle, a cookie and beverage.)


    Panera Mediterranean Veggie Boxed Lunch (Zesty sweet Peppadew piquant peppers, feta cheese, cucumbers, lettuce, vine-ripened tomatoes, red onions and cilantro-jalapeno hummus with salt and pepper on thin sliced Tomato Basil. Served with potato chips, pickle, a cookie and beverage.
